Greek architecture along High Street has inspired the nickname “Athens of the West.”

West Chester's small town charm is in part what makes it a wonderful place to live. Its walkability, bustling downtown, and historic nature have given this 19th century town recognition as a livable and progressive community.

Renters and homeowners enjoy a housing stock that leaves many green with envy. A distinctive quality of some buildings is found in the use of serpentine, a sandstone-like mineral that has a mottled greenish hue. The average home price is $295,000 with rents ranging from $600 to $2,500 a month.

Excellent schools are in abundance. Nearly 30 schools - public, parochial and private - can be found in West Chester.
